An army veteran and longtime detective-turned true crime writer — who partook in the Ground Zero relief efforts — died following a long battle with 9/11-related illness, his family said Tuesday. Mark Gado, a Bronx man who later settled in the Hudson Valley, passed away Sunday at the age of 70.
