Rain made for a soggy Colorado spring football game on Saturday, but it certainly didn’t dampen the mood among the recruits who were visiting.
On Sunday, three recruits who visited the Boulder campus this weekend announced their verbal commitments to the Buffs, including brothers Brandon and Colton Hood and offensive line transfer Zack Owens from Clemson.
All three were once teammates at Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Ga., and now will be teammates at CU, where they’ll play for head coach Deion Sanders.
Colton Hood is a cornerback who will join the Buffs as a transfer from Auburn.
Coach Michael Malone is a numbers guy.
Of course, he knows that his Nuggets lead the Lakers 3-1 and can close out the first-round playoff series Monday night at Ball Arena. But he’s also acutely aware of statistical trends floating like icebergs, threatening Denver’s voyage toward a second straight NBA championship.
Such as:
• The Nuggets have shot 46.0% from the floor, including an ugly 27.6% on 3-pointers.
The Winnipeg Jets have a deep group of forwards, an excellent top pairing on defense and one of the best goalies in the world.
They don’t have Cale Makar.
Between yet another onslaught of power plays for the Avs against the suddenly undisciplined Jets, Makar scored one of the best goals of his distinguished NHL career.
Instant reaction from the Avalanche’s 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 4 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series.
Goin’ crazy for Casey: The hole left behind by Nazem Kadri has officially been filled, and his name is Casey Mittelstadt. Acquired from the Buffalo Sabres just before the trade deadline in March, the second-line center has been nothing short of spectacular working alongside Zach Parise and Artturi Lehkonen in these playoffs.
8212; Three women who were diagnosed with HIV after getting “vampire facial” procedures at an unlicensed New Mexico medical spa are believed to be the first documented cases of people contracting the virus through a cosmetic procedure using needles, federal health officials said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in its Morbidity and Mortality Report last week that an investigation into the clinic from 2018 through 2023 showed it apparently reused disposable equipment intended for one-time use.
Although HIV transmission from contaminated blood through unsterile injection is a well-known risk, the report said this is the first documentation of probable infections involving cosmetic services.
Many popular cosmetic treatments are delivered with needles, such as Botox to iron out wrinkles and fillers to plump lips.
