Axis Dance Company is slated to dance through Yerba Buena Gardens this weekend as the Oakland-based troupe performs “Occupy,” a site-specific work choreographed by Stephen Koplowitz, with live music by composer and singer Pamela Z. The show is being described as “a promenade performance of distinct chapters tied to specific locations in the gardens,” with audience members to be guided from location to location. “Occupy,” the first event in a series honoring the company’s 30th anniversary, is the final commission of Judith Smith, who has been Axis’ artistic director for 20 years.
