Barberton Man Struck By Hit-skip Driver Dies

A Barberton man struck by a driver who skipped the scene has died of his injuries.Scott Hollifield, 27, a member of the Army National Guard Transportation Unit 1445, was struck just before 11 p.m., Nov. 25 on North Van Buren Avenue while walking on the side of the street with a friend.He was treated for multiple broken bones and severe head injuries at Summa Akron City Hospital and remained in a coma until his death on Tuesday.Police are still looking for a dark-colored sedan that should have passenger-side damage, including a shattered passenger window.Anyone with information is asked to call 330-861-7253.
