Bear Creek Stock Takes A Hit From Peru Dispute

THE CANADIAN PRESS -- The chief executive of Canadian miner Bear Creek (TSXV:BCM) says the government shutdown of its Santa Ana operation in Peru is "illegal and unconstitutional" and the company is considering its legal options while hoping a political solution can be found.A Peruvian government decree cancelled the company's plans for a silver mine in the country's southern highlands on Saturday after six people were killed and at least 30 wounded on Friday when police fired on mostly indigenous protesters opposing the project."Our intention is to take immediate strong legal action to vigorously defend our rights," CEO Andrew Swarthout said on a conference call Monday morning.Read More...
