Wells police are urging residents take down bird feeders and put trash in enclosed areas in the wake of bear sightings over the past couple of weeks. Every year around this time police receive reports of a bear in the area of Wire Road, said Saundra Skoczen, a dispatcher and the Facebook administrator for the department. She said police believe it could be the same bear, who tends to eat from bird feeders, coming back year after year. A Natanis Ridge Circle resident captured a picture of the bear doing just that on Friday night. Skoczen said police tell residents to take down the bird feeders every year, but every year they go back up.
