STATESBORO, Ga. — A former Georgia Southern student who was a bouncer has been given a 20-year sentence for fatally beating a fellow student outside a bar. News outlets report that Grant Spencer was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter Wednesday, following the August 2014 death of 18-year-old Michael Gatto. Spencer was 20 years old and off-duty at Rude Rudy’s, a now-defunct Stateboro bar, when he assaulted Gatto, causing fatal head injuries. read more
