I will never forget when my youngest daughter Jill Whitmore, a successful artist with her own gallery in Colorado, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. It is indelible in my mind and heart. Indelible, too, were her words: “Mom, this will be the best thing that ever happened to our family.” Today, 10 years later, she is cancer free. I wrote about that journey for the Puget Sound Business Journal in October 2005.
