Earnings ‘Avengers’ boosts Disney “The Avengers” helped lift profit at the Walt Disney Co. 11 percent in the most recent quarter, to $2.48 billion ($1.45 per share), allowing the entertainment conglomerate to beat Wall Street’s expectations for the 17th consecutive period. Analysts had expected $1.42 per share. Revenue totaled $13.1 billion, a 5 percent increase from a year ago. All of Disney’s major businesses contributed to the results — cable television in particular perked up compared with recent quarters — but Walt Disney Studios was a primary driver.
