Late Friday evening, the Senate passed the open carry bill sending it to the House for a final vote before the legislative session ends June 1. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick had hailed the expected passage of open carry of firearms in Texas as one of his chief accomplishments this legislative session. “The issue of open carry will finally be passed and Texas will join the large majority of states who allow open carry,” Patrick said in a statement Friday.
