Senior quarterback Colby Kirkegaard said having a bye this week in a way kind of sucks. After a 56-14 loss at No. 9-ranked Michigan State last Saturday, both of UW's losses have come against top 10 teams on the road, and they lost those games by a combined 86 points. Junior Jake Jones (appendicitis) and sophomore Sam Hardy (ankle) returned against Michigan State, but both didn't play late in the game. The offense has allowed 22 sacks in five games, which is 122nd out of 125 Football Bowl Subdivision teams in the nation. Junior running back Shaun Wick had a season-low five carries against Michigan State, but he made the most of them with 85 yards including a 57-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
