So many Ventura County residents are tearing up their lawns to conserve water that one water supplier is making more money available to help cover the costs of replacing turf with drought-tolerant landscaping. The Calleguas Municipal Water District Board of Directors has voted to approve an extra $1 million for the district's 2014-15 conservation budget and specifically for its "Lose the Lawn" campaign. That's in addition to the more than $1.6 million already available to be paid out in incentives to single-family homeowners who are happy to live without grass."We don't know how long this drought is going to continue," said board President Scott Quady.
