A police officer said the deadliest in Sunday's attacks was in the nearby town of Mahmoudiya, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad, where a car bomb exploded, killing at least four civilians and wounding nine. The attacks come as government forces are struggling to dislodge Islamic State militants from the western province of Anbar which they overran a year ago.
