On Thursday as people woke up to take their cars to work, police got four calls reporting property stolen out of their cars and four more calls came in throughout the day asking police for help. The majority of the thefts are taking place inside unlocked cars where the thieves rummage through vehicles stealing cash, gift cards, sunglasses and other valuables. Hohn said officers are asking residents to lock their cars and call 911 to report suspicious activity like a dog barking in the back yard and security lights going on for seemingly no reason.
