More than 50 cats and dogs that were bound for an animal shelter in Lewiston were rescued Thursday after the animal transport vehicle they were riding in tipped over in a northbound lane of Interstate 95 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Portsmouth police said in a press release on their Facebook page that several police officers and the city’s animal control officer got the animals out of the wreckage.
