Two different events, same goal: provide children in the Colorado Springs area with their first bicycles. Kids on Bikes, a local nonprofit that offers free bikes and training, hosted a 24-hour riding marathon at the Colorado Springs Olympic Center Velodrome that wrapped up late Sunday morning. As that event concluded, dozens of volunteers quickly assembled 80 bikes at the Oskar Blues & Brew restaurant on North Tejon Street that will be donated to first- and second-graders at West Elementary School in Colorado Springs. "It's indescribable, it means everything," West Elementary Principal Karen Newton said.
