Illini baseball great Doug Mills will soon have a new trophy to add to his cabinet: The 79-year-old recorded his first hole-in-one last Tuesday, acing No. 3 at the Champaign Country Club.

The baseball he used to finish his no-hitter against Wisconsin in 1961 will soon have company in a cabinet at former Illini great DOUG MILLS' home in Peoria.

Urbana alderwoman: Put cannabis tax revenue toward city's pensions

In a letter to her colleagues, Maryalice Wu said she wants the council to focus on the city's future by diverting all potential cannabis taxes to both the Vehicle and Equipment Replacement Fund and pension funds.

URBANA — An alderwoman is proposing using tax revenue from recreational cannabis to replenish the city's underfunded pension funds and other long-term obligations.

UI sees applications from Chinese students surge after last year's slump

The home to one of the largest Chinese student populations in the U.S. got more than 7,000 applications for 2019-20, up from 5,950 last year and 6,728 the year before, according to figures provided by the Office of Admissions.

Champaign man charged after cocaine, pot found in search of home

Kevin Antoineo Henry, 30, was charged Friday with one count of felony manufacture or delivery of cocaine and one count of felony possession of a controlled substance.

URBANA — A Champaign man is being held at the Champaign County Jail after police said they found him with suspected drugs and drug-packaging materials.
