Colorado House Speaker KC Becker wants the state to take the lead on addressing climate change. On Thursday evening, she introduced a bill that seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 2005 levels and empowers the state’s Air Quality Control Commission to establish regulations for public utility companies as well as the oil and gas sector. According to Becker’s office, the bill requires carbon pollution to be reduced by at least 25 percent by 2026, 50 percent by 2030, and 90 percent by 2050 compared to 2005 levels.
