Cohoes Code Rewritten To Fight Blight

The city is targeting the old tavern and other blighted buildings by revising and toughening its trash, vacant building and building occupancy laws. The Common Council approved an amendment at its May meeting to the city code to increase fines levied against property owners in the city's right-of-way and on private properties. [...] the agent must be available when needed by city officials and emergency response agencies. A final change is that owners of rental property in the city and their agents "must attend the mandatory Residential Property Rental Orientation and Education Program" offered by the city during its registration of properties.
