By this afternoon, I’ll be able to say that I am the parent of a college graduate. My daughter is receiving her diploma today – one of an estimated 1.9 million college students who will earn their bachelor’s degrees this year. I am proud to report that my daughter landed a job in her field of study before graduation, which is no small feat, even in a strong economy with low unemployment. Job prospects for new graduates have improved tremendously since the recession, with employers expected to hire 5 percent more college graduates from this year’s graduating class than in 2016, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
