U.S. Sen. Susan Collins said Sunday that she opposes the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents at the Mexico border, but stopped short of supporting a Democratic bill seeking to halt the practice. Speaking on the CBS news show “Face the Nation,” the Maine Republican said the number of children who have been separated so far might exceed the nearly 2,000 cited last week by the Department of Homeland Security.
