Backers of a proposed ballot initiative banning late-term abortions in Colorado received clearance from state election officials Thursday to start collecting signatures. Colorado is one of seven states that do not restrict abortion at any stage of a pregnancy, and abortion rights advocates have pushed to keep it that way. If approved by voters, however, Initiative 120 would bar abortions after the 22nd week of pregnancy, except in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. Erin Behrens and Giuliana Day filed the proposed initiative in June.
