The proposal to modify six downtown streets to increase pedestrian safety received "mixed public support" by residents, so Colorado Springs will consider making modifications to one, according to a city release. Citing "the pressing safety concern on Cascade Avenue," the city will consider the Old North End Neighborhood Association's plan to "safety-size" Cascade Avenue between Cache la Poudre and Uintah streets. A Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Plan put forth by the association recommended that portions of Cascade, Nevada and Wasatch avenues and Fontanero, Uintah and Weber streets be converted from two lanes of traffic in each direction to one lane.
