Following rumors that the companies were in talks earlier this week, Comcast has officially acquired DreamWorks Animation for a reported $3.8 billion. "The prospects for our future together are tremendous," NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke said in an announcement. NBCUniversal's parent company, Comcast, also owns Universal Pictures, and it's likely DreamWorks — the studio behind animated hits like Kung Fu Panda and Shrek — would merge with Universal.
