The Sound Transit Board on Thursday voted to recommend building a controversial 25-acre rail yard in Bellevue across the street from the massive Spring District real estate development in the Bel-Red corridor. Bellevue Mayor Claudia Balducci, who voted against the recommendation, said it was "an ironic choice" since the entire point of expanding the region's light-rail system is to create places for high-density real estate development.
