Attorneys meet in case involving death of Spring family

Attorneys for Ronald Haskell, charged with capital murder in the July 9 execution-style shootings of six members of a Spring family, met with prosecutors Monday to learn about the availability of autopsy reports, crime scene photos and other crucial evidence in the case. The shootings at the Haskell family home in Spring occurred after family members failed to reveal ‑ either deliberately or because they did not know ‑ the location of Haskell's ex-wife, Katie Stay's sister, investigators said. According to police, Cassidy Stay was home alone when Haskell, dressed in a FedEx uniform, pushed his way into the Stay residence. After Haskell's first court appearance, Durham outlined a possible insanity defense, contending Haskell suffered from mental illness, and committed the crime after he stopped taking his medication.
