A man has received a state felony charge of attempting to take a weapon away from a police officer, stemming from an incident in North Amarillo last month. On July 20 at about 11:50 p.m., an officer in an unmarked vehicle attempted to stop a blue Mercury that appeared to be speeding near Northwest Third Avenue and North Monroe Street, police said.
