George Nigh were met with standing ovations Thursday evening as hundreds gathered to see the iconic film in its digitally remastered format. The Visual and Performing Arts Center at the Oklahoma City Community College was humming with excitement as more than 350 people mingled during the invitation-only reception and later, when about 950 came for the Q&A session with Nigh and Jones and the screening. Nigh, who mingled and took selfies with guests during the reception, was a young state representative from McAlester in 1953 when he introduced legislation to adopt the theme song from “Oklahoma!” as the official state song. “I can remember the first time I ever heard the song.Read more on NewsOK.com
