‘Crown of the Continent: The Wildest Rockies’ — an appreciation

A half-century ago, when dam builders and loggers ruled the West, the Sierra Club began a series of what were called “exhibit format” books to show and celebrate wild and endangered places. “Time and the River Flowing” made its way to President Lyndon Johnson’s Christmas tree at the White House and  helped keep two giant dams out of the Grand Canyon.  “North Cascades: Forgotten Parkland” was a vital resource in creating a national park in the “American Alps” of our backyard.
