'Comeback Cardinals' alone atop NFC West at 2-0

(AP) — The 'Comeback Cardinals' find themselves alone in first place in the NFC West heading into an important game at home against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Backup Drew Stanton filled in admirably in the Cardinals' 25-14 road victory over the New York Giants on Sunday, the second game in a row that Arizona won with a fourth-quarter comeback. Palmer is nursing what coach Bruce Arians called "a bruised nerve that's being ornery" in his throwing shoulder. Everybody's aware of how tough he is and he prides himself in playing football games and playing season-long. [...] Stanton hadn't taken a snap in a regular-season game since December of 2010. The Cardinals won against the Giants despite playing on a short week, traveling cross-country and having a backup quarterback. "The tape showed a football team that didn't play its best and won a football game," he said. Arizona won largely because of four New York turnovers to none for the Cardinals, along with Ted Ginn Jr.'s 72-yard punt return. Abraham is the NFL's active career sacks leader (133½) and ranks ninth on the career list.
