When Jenny McCarthy was let go as co-host of ABC's The View in June along with Sherri Shepherd, the network never really said why it wanted to flip the table over and basically start from scratch. [...] they consider when Rosie [O'Donnell] was coming back it was too liberal, and they wanted a conservative and they wanted a Latina, so they got Rosie Perez and their Elisabeth [Hasselbeck], if you will, so that way it was a balanced table with more diversity. O'Donnell was officially announced as returning to The View in early July, and Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace (the "Elisabeth" that McCarthy referred to in her quote above) were revealed as the final two co-hosts in September.
