WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — An inmate who was recaptured after escaping from the state prison is facing new charges. Twenty-five-year-old Keurys Pena appeared in Kent County District Court on a charge of escape from correctional institutions. He did not enter a plea. The charge carries a penalty of up to three years in prison. Authorities say Pena was on a work detail at the Adult Correctional Institutions on Monday when he escaped. He was found walking on a street in Providence two days later. Pena is serving a four-and-a-half-year term for breaking and entering.
