Grayslake fire district cites declining revenue in seeking tax hike

The Grayslake Fire Protection District is seeking a tax rate increase to fund operations. Voters in 2008 approved a tax hike but a drop in property values meant the expected revenue didn't materialize, according to Fire Chief John Christian. "This is certainly the last thing I wanted to do as a fire chief and our board wanted to do, but it's a necessary thing to continue the services," he said.
