Ruth Vasquez Rodriguez-Martinez, 23, is charged with injury to a child and abandoning a child - both felonies - following a Houston police investigation. Houston police said the incident happened July 15 at the family's home in the 3000 block of Charter Oaks. When she discovered what happened, she began strangling the boy and then flung him into a closet with such force that his head struck the wall and started bleeding, Houston police said.
