If you watched the first two World Series games on TV you probably noticed the pattern of the grass in the Kansas City outfield. [...] it was kind of impossible to ignore. Jorge Costa, senior vice president of ballpark operations, often wears vintage double-breasted suits and two-tone shoes to games as a nod to the past. Groundskeeper David Mellor mowed a pattern into the grass to hide the damage for an upcoming baseball game and it was a sensation. Elliott says one exception came in 2008 when Omar Vizquel broke the major league record for most games played a shortstop.
