Comment on New businesses hold celebration in downtown Spartanburg

The hub of downtown activity moved a few blocks east on Main Street Saturday afternoon as entrepreneurs gathered to celebrate a blossoming small business community. “There’s a new energy,” Sara McLean Riddle said. “New life is being breathed into downtown. We wanted to draw people this way a little bit, and thought (an anniversary celebration) would be a good way to do it.” Riddle is the owner of Haute Mama, and she along with other winners of the 2013 Main Street Challenge – Kathy and Michael Silverman, owners of The Local Hiker, and Eugena and Michael Motte of Motte and Sons Bootlegging Co.
