Motorcyclists seriously hurt in crash with deer

Two Fort White residents were hospitalized with serious injuries Friday night when the motorcycle they were riding hit a deer in Gilchrist County, reported the Florida Highway Patrol. Clifton Lloyd Crossman, 65, and Betty Jene Ward, 41, were taken to UF Health Shands Hospital following the 8:14 p.m. accident on State Road 47, FHP reported in a press release. Crossman was driving a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on SR 47 near where it intersects with Gilchrist County Road 232 when a deer ran into his path and Crossman hit the animal with his 2009 Harley-Davidson MC, FHP said.
