Firefighters from Wilmington Fire Department Engine 4 visited homes Friday in the neighborhoods surrounding 4308 Peachtree Ave., the scene of a fatal house fire on Oct. 22. Going door to door with free smoke alarms in hand, they found a number of homes without the life-saving devices, and an even larger number that had detectors with dead batteries.
