Most Americans have heard that the era of the driverless car looms just over the horizon, but they’re not eager to use one because they fear that giving up the steering wheel just isn’t safe. The University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute has surveyed people globally and in the United States to see whether they are mentally prepared for the automotive evolution that within 10 to 15 years is expected to put hands-free cars on the road.
