Hawkins man gets 225 days for sex offender violations

ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man who traded his child to a notorious serial child rapist and child pornographer in exchange for drugs a decade ago was sentenced to 225 days in jail Wednesday for violating his convicted sex offender status.Ricky Elym Henry, 57, 215-1 Jones Road, Church Hill, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hawkins County Sessions Court to charges including tampering with his GPS monitor, two curfew violations and resisting arrest.For removing his GPS monitor, Henry was sentenced to 180 days with no chance for early release.The other three counts earned Henry 45 days in jail with release eligibility after serving 75 percent.Henry, 57, was sentenced to 12 years in January 2005 after pleading guilty to one count of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.At the time of those charges, Henry lived in Mountain City.Shortly after being released from prison in July 2013, Henry moved to a mobile home park on Jones Road, about three-quarters of a mile from Carters Valley Elementary School.Henry is on community corrections for life.
