A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was seriously injured when he was struck by a motorist who ran a red light in Sunnyvale, authorities said Friday. The driver of a Honda, who was headed northbound on Lawrence Expressway near Highway 101 at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, ignored a red traffic signal and hit one of two motorcycle officers getting off 101 onto the expressway southbound, according to the CHP. The driver of the Honda was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, CHP officials said.
