The big idea: With flavors like Amaretto Biscotti, Earl Grey Pine and Mint Chocolate Brownie, MilkMade couldn’t keep up with demand. The New York craft ice cream start-up had grown organically for four years. In 2013, its founder, Diana Hardeman, needed an injection of cash to ramp up production. She decided that a successful crowdfunding campaign was the best strategy to make MilkMade attractive to angel investors.
