Western half of Okalhoma under red flag warning for fire danger

Strong March winds have caused the National Weather Service to issue red flag warnings for the western half of the state due to high fire danger, a meteorlogist in Norman said. The wind in the Oklahoma City area is expected to increase after noon, said Christine Riley, meteorologist in Norman. Three elements make conditions dangerous for wildfires: low humidity, temperatures at 64 degrees or higher and strong wind. The temperature in Oklahoma City was 61 degeres at 11 a.m.
