Times-Union writer remembers the late Leonard Nimoy as a true Renaissance man

To many, he was the guy with the pointy ears and the droll voice who irked Kirk and annoyed “Bones” McCoy in the 1960s classic “Star Trek” TV series. Others remember illogically shedding a tear as his most famous (or infamous) character died in 1982’s “The Wrath of Khan” after telling Kirk that “Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few” before saving the Starship Enterprise. But I remember Leonard Nimoy, who died Friday morning at 83 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as one of the most interesting people I ever interviewed. read more
