Peter Holland and the Toronto Maple Leafs took advantage after both Florida goalies were injured Tuesday night and beat the Panthers 3-2 to snap a franchise-worst 16-game, road-losing streak. Holland netted the winning goal 5:28 into the third period against Al Montoya, who had replaced injured starter Roberto Luongo after the first period. The Panthers changed goalies twice, and even had 41-year-old goalie coach Robb Tallas get dressed on an emergency basis, but he didn’t enter the game. Luongo was hurt with 4:03 left in the first period when he was hit with the puck on the side of the head on a wrist shot by Leo Komarov. Luongo was treated but remained in goal for the rest of the period. Anze Kopitar and Trevor Lewis each had a goal and two assists as visiting Los Angeles snapped a three-game skid that came on the heels of an eight-game winning streak. Andrew Cogliano scored twice, Frederik Andersen stopped 29 shots in his return from injury, and visiting Anaheim moved into a tie with slumping Nashville atop the Western Conference with its third straight win. Cody Eakin scored 2:18 into overtime as host Dallas snapped a six-game losing streak and recorded its first overtime victory in eight games this season. Cory Schneider made 33 saves, and New Jersey sent visiting Nashville to its season-worst fourth straight loss.
