Hawkins students making up for lost time after 11 straight snow days

(Scroll down for a video and photos from Mount Carmel elementary's return to school Tuesday.)MOUNT CARMEL — After 11 consecutive snow days, it was back to business Tuesday for Hawkins County students, except at the rural Clinch School, which remained closed due to snow and ice still covering that community’s rural mountain roads.Having lost a total of 13 school days to snow this year, Hawkins County students will have to make up for lost time to be prepared for TCAP testing, which begins April 28.Mount Carmel Elementary principal Kelli Campbell said Tuesday that her faculty, as with every school faculty in the system, has a plan in place to address the two weeks of lost instructional time.“That’s always a concern for teachers,” Campbell said.
