KINGSPORT — The Kingsport Fire Department responded to more than 8,200 calls in 2014 with an average response time of 4 minutes and 52 seconds. Though the overwhelming majority of the calls were medical in nature, firefighters did respond to 110 structure fires and 44 vehicle fires, according to the department’s annual report.The KFD issues an annual report each spring that gives a brief history of the department and outlines the number and types of calls firefighters responded to the previous year, the amount of damage caused by said fires and benchmark data of similarly sized fire departments in the Tri-Cities and other parts of Tennessee.The report also includes a list of the major achievements of the previous year along with goals and objectives for the next one to five years.Firefighters responded to 110 structure fires in 2014 with an estimated loss of $860,000.
