The passage of time is never good for a prosecution, which proved true Monday in the case of an Augusta man accused of trying to sodomize a 9-year-old girl. Robert Lee Merriweather, 64, has been in custody for nearly five years, since a girl he baby-sat made the accusation to her mother in November 2010.
