Gerrit Cole pitches Pirates to 4-1 win over Diamondbacks

PHOENIX (AP) — Gerrit Cole pitched into the eighth inning for his third win this season, and Josh Harrison and Neil Walker each drove in two runs to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 Friday night. Harrison lined a two-out double to right-center in the second inning, driving in Jordy Mercer and Cole to give the Pirates a 3-0 lead. Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter (1-3) lasted six innings, yielding three runs and six hits while striking out three. Walker's RBI single in the first gave him a seven-game hitting streak, the longest for any Pirates player this season. Pirates: OF Starling Marte was back in the lineup after being limited to pinch running in Thursday's win over the Chicago Cubs in Pittsburgh.
