Fort Carson soldier dies in Colorado Springs motorcycle wreck

Wayne HeilmanA Fort Carson solider was killed Saturday in a midday crash that closed Cimarron Street in both directions west of Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs for four hours, Colorado Springs police said. Christopher R. Higginbotham, 24, was killed in a head-on collision about 12:10 p.m. The department’s Major Accident Unit determined that the motorcyclist, traveling with a group of other motorcyclists, was westbound on Cimarron from Interstate 25 and as they crossed the bridge over Fountain Creek encountered slower-moving traffic. Higginbotham, who is from Tennessee, veered to his left to avoid colliding with the vehicle ahead, crossing the median into the eastbound lanes, where he struck a pickup truck traveling west, police
